Change of Plans

I hated having to change my plans but it just had to happen. One minute you think you have weeks and then time rushes towards you like high tide coming in around your ankles.
I went along with a nice group of people to a building on Northbourne Avenue and took some group shots, some I'm happy with and others were just rushed. I'll find a good few hopefully.

Ideas on the Group Shoot

So I go back to places I know work and suit my style.

I was thinking Bungendore train station because there i can use different levels and the surrounds are interesting. As for why there are six corporate looking people on train tracks, they could be the heritage team behind restoring the old station or the railroad spokes people. Still working on that side of things.

For the less relaxed, more serious shot, I'd like to scatter the group around the tracks, some forward, some back but use a small aperture so they're all in focus.
For the serious corporate shot I'll have to line them up along the tracks but shoot towards the paddock or the old station.

Let's just say it was a party in a tiny lift.

The sick as portraits.

And these are just to demonstrate how hard we were working.

Mono Blocks :))

None of us know this girl but she happened to walk by so as budding photographers we grabbed her and ran with it. She was cool but managed to put her arm up at the wrong time :|
Eeep.
Oh well.

Flash Is Amazing. Let's get married?

So on Monday we were all hanging out in some seriously harsh sun learning about the greatness of Speedlites! The conclusion was drawn fairly early that they are indeed amazing so for a good portion of the class we were ... experimenting :))

We had to light a group of about 6 but we had to back light them therefore shoot into the sun. Eeep!
We found it depends on which angle you shoot from and on what angle the group is on, where to place your flash if it's off camera or on which angle to place your flash if it's on camera flash. It was really interesting because you have to get out there and touch everything and try different methods and options to understand something like Flash, it's not something that can be taught in a class room.
